Impact windows and doors in Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County is outside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, so the rules differ from Broward and Miami-Dade. The whole county is a wind-borne debris region, and design wind speeds step down from the coast inland. We install from Boca Raton up through West Palm Beach and out to Wellington.

What is different in Palm Beach County

Wind-borne debris region, not HVHZ

Openings must be impact-rated or protected, but products need Florida Product Approval rather than an HVHZ approval. A Miami-Dade NOA is also accepted.

Wind speed changes across the county

The county's wind map puts the coast and central communities on the 170 mph line and western areas lower, down to 150 mph near Lake Okeechobee. Check a specific parcel before engineering.

County or town permits

Incorporated towns issue their own permits, many on the Palm Beach County Uniform Permit Application. Unincorporated areas go through the county's Planning, Zoning and Building department.
