What Wilton Manors checks

Wilton Manors takes all permits online through Citizenserve and publishes its own Windows, Doors and Shutters checklist. The checklist states that windows and doors must be impact resistant unless shuttered, and any non-impact opening needs a shutter permit for each opening. For buildings under three stories, design wind pressures come from the ASCE-7 chart. Taller buildings need pressures from the designer of record. The minimum online submittal is one copy each of the product approvals, the design wind pressures, and a completed window, door, and shutter schedule, plus a copy of your association's approval where one applies. Inspections must be requested online before 4:30 p.m. for the next business day. The city also has a Historic Preservation Board, created in 2021, that issues certificates of appropriateness for designated resources.

Do I need impact windows in Wilton Manors?

The city's checklist says windows and doors must be impact resistant unless shuttered, and every non-impact opening needs its own shutter permit. Impact glass removes the shutter step entirely.

My home is on the river. Does that matter?

Homes facing the North or South Fork of the Middle River have open water on one side. We set design pressures for that exposure.

Can I do the demolition myself?

Only with an owner/builder affidavit signed in person at the Community Development Services Department. Most owners leave removal and install to us.

Will impact windows lower my insurance in Wilton Manors?

Impact windows and doors installed to code may qualify for wind-mitigation credits. We give you the product approvals and final inspection paperwork your insurer asks for. Your carrier decides any discount.

Is my home historic?

Wilton Manors created a Historic Preservation Board in 2021. Designated resources need a certificate of appropriateness for exterior work. We check your property before quoting.
