Tamarac's first neighborhoods were one-story, one- or two-bedroom homes built from 1963 for active retirees, around clubhouses with association maintenance. The median home was built in 1981, and many villas and condos still have original windows.
The city's process reflects that. The building permit comes with an Association Affidavit of Awareness, and the city warns that a permit does not equal association approval. Window permits are not eligible for Fast Trac, so they go through standard review, which the city's storm guide puts at 5 to 10 business days.
